The Greed Within you.

The pitch

As the villagers of Tumbbad, you now are in the race for the riches. Each turn, you gather resources, carefully planning your next move. Will you play it safe, or will greed drive you into the depths of the well?

To face Hastar is to gamble with fate. Offer him wheat dolls in exchange for gold, but beware—time is at essence.

Only the wealthiest will be recognised as the victorious. But remember: in Tumbbad, no fortune comes without a price.

Will you claim prosperity, or become just another tale of caution?

Learnings gained through making this game:

  1. Initially, playing various games and looking at them through a technical lens helped us come up with loopholes, variations and what if’s which we could take forward for our own game.

  2. Playing different types of games also gave us an idea about how themes can influence the game's mechanisms and vice versa.

  3. The downtime for players during each others turns matters and helps decide which game is more engaging.

  4. Not everything you plan out is liked by the audience. Here, people ended up liking elements that connected with them/reminded them of other elements of games.

  5. Having a theme also helped us come up with game mechanics and elements that matched the vibe of the theme.

My Contributions:

I mostly helped out with the making of the game mechanics, rule book, and co worked on illustration and layout of the cards and rule book.
